A member of the team at Boston Energy has taken on an exhilarating challenge by completing a tandem skydive in support of the Sailors’ Children’s Society, the company’s chosen charity partner.
Deputy Project Manager, Steven Fyfe, a former member of the Armed Forces, took the plunge and decided to leap from 10,000–15,000 feet on 27th June to raise vital funds for a charity dedicated to supporting children and families of seafarers facing hardship across the UK.
Having served his country for 24 years, Steven is no stranger to stepping outside his comfort zone. However, this latest mission is driven by a different purpose – helping children and families who rely on the invaluable support provided by the Sailors’ Children’s Society.
Speaking ahead of the skydive, Steven said:
“Serving in the military taught me the importance of resilience, teamwork and looking after others. Taking on this skydive is a small personal challenge compared to what many families face every day. I’m proud to be raising money for the Sailors’ Children’s Society and hope people will get behind the cause.”
The Sailors’ Children’s Society has been supporting seafaring families for more than 200 years, providing financial assistance, practical help and opportunities that enable children to thrive despite difficult circumstances.
Boston Energy selected the Sailors’ Children’s Society as its chosen charity earlier this year, with colleagues taking part in a variety of fundraising events throughout the year. The skydive is certainly one of the most exciting challenges yet, demonstrating the team’s commitment to giving back to the community.
