Renowned Industry Leader Appointed to Head New Renewables Joint Venture

Renowned wind industry leader, Tue Lippert, has been appointed to head up a new joint venture between the Rix Group and the Boston Energy.

BostonRix Wind Ltd is a single point of contact for the offshore wind sector, supplying strategic assets and services including crew transfer vessels and highly skilled technicians and engineers for all aspects of wind farm maintenance and construction, from sea and ground level up.

Mr Lippert is well known in the wind energy industry for his work with DONG Energy, where he led the construction of the Westermost Rough offshore wind farm development off the East Yorkshire coast.

During his time with Dong, Tue was responsible for setting up offices in Grimsby and Hull, managing the fast track project and approximately 450 contractors and subcontractors both on and offshore. The Westermost Rough wind farm was the first to make commercial use of the Siemens 6MW wind turbine, the same type of turbine that will be made at the Siemens site in Hull.

He said:

There is a strong synergy between Rix and Boston Energy who together have identified an opportunity in the market place which BostonRix Wind Ltd can fill. The company has been established to work with offshore developers and large OEMs to deliver a range of integrated services that would usually be provided through multiple suppliers.

“The JV company streamlines both procurement procedures and operational management for wind farm construction and maintenance by providing the expertise of Rix and Boston Energy in a single supplier. I believe this consolidation and a comprehensive approach is exactly what is needed to meet the demand of the projects in the pipelines (round two and three) and to the wind farms already online. It is a genuine move to provide the offshore wind developers and OEMs with the option of choosing local UK content and ensure job creation, training and education in this region.”

Mr Lippert added it was a privilege to be heading up the new venture.

“I took this role because I am passionate about offshore wind and have a desire to be part of something new and drive growth and success,” he said.

“We have a great opportunity to do something exciting and make a real difference, particularly in the Humber region which is so important to the growing UK’s wind energy industry.”

Mark Parkes, group managing director of Boston Energy, said he was very pleased to appoint Tue Lippert as managing director of BostonRix Wind Ltd.

“The joint venture is an exciting one for both Boston Energy and Rix,” he said. “With the combined expertise and resources of both companies, I feel Tue Lippert is best placed to deliver some outstanding results.”

Tim Rix, managing director of the Rix Group, said that along with the existing services Boston Energy and Rix provide, BostonRix Wind Ltd will deliver a comprehensive, integrated range of services that would usually be provided by multiple sources to offshore wind developers and OEMs.

He said:

“The unique combination of skills and hardware the new company can provide means offshore developers and OEMs can come to us with any number of problems and we will be able to provide support.

“Having the company headed up by Tue Lippert means we will have the attention of the industry straight away. His name, experience and achievements carry a lot of weight and will be a significant factor in the success of BostonRix Wind Ltd.”
