Vestas – Sweden, Pre-assembly

Project:

Boston Energy provided support to Vestas in 2017-18 in Solberg, Sweden in which we provided 24 supervisors and installation technicians. This was a hugely challenging project due to the weather conditions and the time constraints. The customer had four days to energise the remaining four turbines to produce 1KW each. This was vitally important for their respective green energy certificates and obviously the financial returns. There was a huge amount of work to do regarding the mechanical and electrical completion.

Outcome:

Boston Energy collaborated with the regular Vestas team, (6 Boston technicians and only 5 Vestas technicians because of the Christmas holidays). Boston Energy technicians were given specific tasks and two of the team were given the task of completing the gearbox to generator main shaft preparation, installation, and completion on all four turbines. Without which there was no power. The Boston Energy team completed all the necessary tasks during New Year’s Eve of 2017 and the turbines were energised. Due to these efforts, Vestas reported that Boston Energy had effectively added €6m euros to their books. This demonstrates our “one team” culture.
