The Puffins have landed! Boston Energy sponsored puffin lands on the East Yorkshire coast as part of exciting local campaign

The puffins have landed!

The Puffins Galore campaign has now been installed with brightly decorated puffin sculptures landing along the East Yorkshire Coast. The campaign aims to encourage more tourists to the area and to raise money for local charities such as The Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, RSPB, Hornsea Inshore Rescue and Lifeboats.

From the minds that brought us ‘Larkin with Toads’ and ‘A moth for Amy’, 42 x 1.5m tall puffins will “delight people of all ages” along the east coast from Bempton to Hull.

Teaming up with local artists, the design of the puffins are inspired by one of three themes:
1. Endangered wildlife of our coasts
2. The global warming crisis and the growth of green energy
3. People and stories of the East Yorkshire coast

One artist who wanted to fuse their passion for art and the environment is Hannah Watson, who through her design of ‘Light Bulb Moment’, wanted to reinforce the importance of green energy solutions if we want to help our eco-systems thrive. ‘Light Bulb Moment’, a puffin proudly sponsored by Boston Energy, was designed to spread awareness of the real threat of global warming and stands looking out to sea on Hornsea North Promenade.

Explaining her inspiration and involvement in the project, Hannah said “I felt this would be an exciting opportunity to be creative and follow a passion which is close to my heart.”

Mark Parkes, Managing Director of Bostonair Group, said “Boston Energy is proud to be involved in the Puffins Galore initiate, especially after the success of ‘A Moth For Amy’ which we were involved in as a Group in 2016. The demand for renewable energy is growing every day, and we hope that by raising awareness in a creative and engaging way we can rally as much support for the charities as possible and preserve not only the endangered species and wildlife along our east coast but also take the first steps towards a greener future. ”
