Boston Energy awarded Silver Award with the Armed Forces Covenant

We are delighted to announce that we have been granted the Silver Award by the Armed Forces Covenant as part of their Defence Employers Recognition Scheme! We are honoured to have been recognised by the AFC for our work helping Armed Forces Leavers transition to a career in the wind industry with Boston Energy.

As a Silver Award holder with the Armed Forces Covenant, Boston Energy must already hold Bronze Award status, have signed the Armed Forces Covenant, and actively demonstrate that personnel from the Armed Forces community are welcomed and not at a disadvantage during recruitment/selection processes.

Colonel Jason Wright, Chief Executive RFCA YH says:

“On behalf of Yorkshire and the Humber, the RFCA is thrilled about the exceptional response from regional employers who have applied for the Employer Recognition Scheme. Because of their extraordinary effort and work, a record thirty-two employers from a wide range of industry, size and sectors have succeeded in securing a Silver Award this year. This is a true testament of their commitment to our Armed Forces Covenant and the positive impact when working with individuals from our Armed Forces community. We look forward to working with these employers and supporting the further development of services that focus on employees and personnel who serve in the forces.”

Recruitment Lead, Oliver, who has played an instrumental role alongside the team at RFCA in reaching this achievement said, “The Armed Forces Covenant and the ERS Silver scheme are important initiatives that foster a sense of appreciation and support for the sacrifices made by our armed forces, This award supports our commitment to all those who have served and their families past, present and future.”

Not only do we host regular Transition to Wind Recruitment Days at our Head Office, we also actively attend industry events such as The National Transition Event to meet more Armed Forces leavers and share more about how we can assist them to utilise their transferrable skills in the wind energy industry.

We have been recruiting Armed Forces Personnel with transferrable skills into the wind industry for over ten years and have assisted them with additional training and upskilling to help them achieve their career goals and progression during that time. Over 35% of our entire workforce are from a military background – Pip, Andy, Colby and Robert are just a few who have joined us from the Armed Forces and now lead successful careers in the wind industry. You can read more about their journey and career progression on our website!
