Global Mobility Specialist

Boston Energy is seeking a highly qualified Global Mobility specialist to join our People team. Reporting to the Head of People, this position is pivotal combining global guidance, expertise and extensive assignment consulting and services with a global footprint. Responsibilities include:
A) Global Mobility:
• Oversee the end-to-end global mobility processes, ensuring a seamless mobalisation/demobalisation for colleagues whilst on project(s).
• Develop and implement global mobility policies, procedures, and standardised ways of working.
• Administer all assignments in accordance with internal and external defined principles and policies
• Responsible for the financial aspect of the assignment process by creating income calculations, payment requests, worksheets and updates, year-end compensation collection and reporting etc.
• Manage a colleagues mobilisation life cycle, ensuring compliance with all global regulations for our travelling technician population.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and anticipate global mobility needs, providing strategic solutions, short – long term.
• Conduct project briefings for colleagues to enhance their understanding of the mobility process and overall onboarding experience.
• Deliver cultural briefing during colleague onboarding.
• Develop and maintain a Project pack for Boston Energy colleagues, including local laws, customs, etiquette, and culture, ensuring our travelling technician population are deployed into new environments with knowledge and support.

B) Legal Compliance:
• Stay up to date on changes in employment laws, regulations, labour lease agreements (country specific) and taxation guidance.
• Partner with legal advisors to ensure company compliance with local laws and regulations.
• Conduct regular audits of global mobility processes and policies to ensure governance standards are met.
• Develop and deliver training programs to relevant departments on legal compliance relating to global mobility.
• Provide legal support and guidance in the resolution of complex global mobility issues.
•Understanding of individual Project Labour Agreements related to US projects involving union & state stakeholders.
• Knowledge of country specific collective bargaining agreements.
• Where required travel globally to conduct audits and obligations to ensure compliance.
• Signpost effectively to external partners and advisors for complex or escalated matters.

C) Employment Law:
• Coordinate and facilitate visa and work permit applications for international assignments.
• Audit and review visa and work permit renewals and expiration dates.
• Act as a liaison between departments to ensure effective collaboration when it comes to new geographies.
• Develop, update, and communicate global mobility policies and guidelines.
• Subject matter expert on employment law matters, including contract interpretation and dispute resolution.
• Monitor and address any legal challenges or disputes related to global mobility, collaborating with legal advisors for resolution.
• Understand where required specific countries tax implications and support with communicating breakdown to all Boston Energy technicians.

Reports to: Head of People

Desired Educational Qualifications:
• CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma in People Management

Minimum Previous Experience:
• Extensive experience in mobilising teams globally, particularly in HR functions related to employment law, labour lease agreements, and visa/work permit requirements.
• Proven track record of successful management of global mobility programs.

Other Skills:
• Strong understanding of international employment laws and regulations.
• Proven experience in liaising with legal advisors for compliance in multiple territories.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
